Commissions
Most of what I make is made for someone. Tell me what it is for, where it will hang and when you need it.
Names and families
A family, written as one object
Made since 2016
Parents' and children's names composed together — as a tree, as a set of panels, as a single form, or as a long horizontal board.
"The top is the names of the husband and wife, and the bottom two are the children's names."
A couple's names
Made since 2015
Two names interlocked, usually as a heart. Made for nikahs, receptions, anniversaries and as gifts, on canvas, on cut board and in gold on black.
One name, on its own
Made since 2015
A single name drawn as a composition — on paper, on perspex, on a hanging scroll up to 900mm wide, or cut in timber. Also on mugs, bookmarks and, once, a bamboo sword.
Weddings
Made since 2013
Welcome signs carrying the couple's names, the date and a verse. Card and invitation design. Pieces for the reception.
Verses and hadith
A verse chosen for a room, and a composition built around what it means. Ask me why the shape is the shape and I'll tell you.
The circle has no start and no end. It reminded me of the start of surah Hadid. So I wrote the start of the surah in a circle. On a 900mm roundel, October 2019
Made on canvas, MDF, plywood, walnut, pine, clear perspex and glass; painted, laser-cut, hand-cut, 3D-printed, or cut and reassembled. Recycled timber wherever it will do the job.
Walls and spaces
Painted on site or cut and installed. Mosques, schools, community centres, offices, cafés and homes — around thirty named engagements since 2013, in three states and overseas.
Mosques and community buildings
Full exterior walls, interior halls, stairwells, prayer rooms and youth spaces.
Heidelberg, Doncaster, Meadow Heights, Brunswick · PGCC Doveton · Islamic Council of Victoria
Schools
Outdoor walls painted with the students, and panels made in quantity — one for every classroom.
Darul Ulum College of Victoria · Ilim College · Desert Pea Islamic Institute, Adelaide
Commercial interiors
Cafés, offices and shopfronts. I have worked to a client's brief and alongside their own staff.
The Coal Pit, Melbourne · Proactive Health, Campbellfield · Azman wan Helmi & associates, Terengganu
Homes
Painted straight onto a living-room wall, or as a piece sized to a specific spot. Perspex work uses the wall itself as its background, so it takes the colour of the room.
"The calligraphy will match the colour of your wall, because the background is your wall."
Signage, logos and decals
I started with commercial work: a hand-painted shopfront on Sydney Road in 2014, a logo drawn in Illustrator in 2015, a client's website background in 2016, and wall decals offered since 2014.
Arabic or Latin script. Decals are made to your wall size, and to your budget.
I have offered paper prints since 2021, A4 to A0, capped at ten per design — after that I delete the design. None is pictured here; ask what is still available.
Ask me
Nothing on this site is priced. I quote job by job, because a 430mm cut piece and a 430mm painting are not the same amount of work. Tell me what it is and I'll tell you what it costs.
